Critique

I would like to thank the Committee for inviting me to judge this show and I would also like to thank my two ring stewards for their very capable help and support. Thank you to the exhibitors who came along on the day and allowing me the pleasure of judging your dogs.

JUNIOR: 5 (4)
1. ROGER'S GINSTEAN SECOND CHANCE FOR YNSSTAFF - Black brindle bitch of 13 months who, though standing alone, was well worthy of taking a first place. Nice bitch with good overall balance. Lovely head type with a good skull to muzzle ratio and a correct scissor bite. Neat, well-carried ears and alert expression. Good bone and her body is developing nicely. Correct tail set which was also carried correctly and of the correct length. Moved with drive and held her topline whilst standing and on the move. Showed in lovely condition and a very promising youngster who I will watch with interest. She pushed hard for my RBOB, just losing out on maturity.
POST GRADUATE: 4 (2)
1. LEWIS'S BIGGLESWICK SPLASH OF GINGE - Red dog aged 21 months. Very well balanced dog with a pleasing height to weight ratio. Nice type of head, correct skull to muzzle ratio and of strength without being over-done. Dark eyes and neat, well-carried ears which really enhance his expression when he can be coaxed into using them. Clean lipped, good scissor bite and a lovely strong under-jaw. Good spring of rib with a nice depth of brisket and good muscle tone throughout giving him a lovely profile from any angle. Level topline when stacked and on the move. Correct tail set and carriage. Lovely neat, tight, well-padded feet. Moved well and with drive. A lovely young dog who has, I am sure, a lot of success ahead of him. Pleased to award him BEST OF BREED.

2. HILLMAN'S CARANDSTAFF JEAN GENIE - Black brindle bitch with flashy white chest and sock, 19 months of age. A very pretty girl who has a lovely, keen expression. She has a nice type of head with a good muzzle to skull ratio. This bitch is very clean around the muzzle which was pleasing to see. She has a good scissor bite, lovely dark eyes and well-set, neat ears which she uses to her advantage. She has good bone and a good width of chest. She has a nice, straight front and she held her topline when stacked or on the move and moved with drive. Preferred the condition and muscle-tone of my first placed dog and his neater, tighter feet. However, this bitch was my well-deserved RESERVE BEST OF BREED.

OPEN: 3 (2)
1. HERON'S DILIRYSTAFF WICKED FURY - Red bitch with black mask, just over 2 years old. Nice bitch of good proportion with ample bone. A good skull shape showing strength whilst still being feminine. Dark eyes and a correct bite. A good spring of rib and overall body shape. She was a bit of a handful for her experienced handler but, as this was her first show, she did very well. I just preferred the fronts of my winning dogs.
