Fynn Takes Dog CC and Best In Show!!
On Sunday 18th July 2021 at the North West SBTC 75th Anniversary Championship Show Fynn - HAMASON FYNNBAR FIRECRAKER - was awarded his 1st CC by Harry Carter (Seastaff) and then went on to take Best In Show on the referee's decision - Kay Aspin (Scarthwaite) It was virtually 35 years to the day since a HAMASON dog was last awarded a CC. When Gerald died in 1982, shortly after Gwen had passed away, his niece, Pearl Wood (nee Dudley), who knew Harry quite well through his friendship with her Uncle and Aunt, invited Harry to have whatever Stafford memorabilia he wanted when the Dudley's house was cleared. Some older Stafford enthusiast may remember Pearl as she used to handle some of the Wychbury dogs, including Ch. When Harry and Maureen arrived at Gerald and Gwen's, Gerald confirmed that Mr McKellar had indeed been and collected his "pick" of the litter. "But don't worry" said Gerald, "he's left the best one for you"!!! And, as it turned out, Gerald was right - Harry and Maureen brought home their first "show dog" who was to be registered at the Kennel Club using their newly acquired "HAMASON" affix - Red Rapture Of Hamason. Staffordshire bull terriers are 'perfectly harmless', says minister - Telegraph
The dogs, affectionately known as "Staffies", are not on the government's banned list and most of the breed posed no threat to humans, according to Jim Paice, the agriculture minister. Mr Paice told MPs that he had grown up with bull terriers as a child and backed a campaign to "reclaim the breed's good name". However, he said ministers were considering reforms to the law, expected to be announced early next year, in order to make sure dog owners face up to their responsibilities to control potentially dangerous animals.
